Data Analyst
The Cripps Barn Group operates eleven venues across the UK delivering the highest quality, affordable weddings and events in amazing locations. The Cripps brand and goals are founded on family values. Our approach to event management integrates digital marketing into our own in-house developed booking system and operations strategy.
Our team is looking for a skilled Data Analyst with strong Power BI expertise to transform raw data into actionable insights that drive business decisions. The Data Analyst will be responsible for collecting, analysing and visualising data, creating interactive dashboards and reports, and collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation to support data-drive decision making. Experience with Microsoft Fabric will be valuable as we transition to this unified analytics platform.
Key Responsibilities
. Data Analysis & Insights
- Analyses complex datasets to identify trends, patterns and anomalies
- Translates business questions into analytical approaches and data requirements
- Performs statistical analysis to support business decisions and strategy
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains through data analysis
- Develops and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics
- Provides actionable recommendations based on data findings
Power BI Development
- Designs and develops interactive Power BI dashboards and reports for various stakeholders
- Creates semantic models (datasets) using Power BI Desktop with proper relationships and calculated measures
- Writes DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) formulas for complex calculations and metrics
- Implements row-level security and manages workspace permissions
- Optimises report performance and ensures dashboards load efficiently
- Maintains and updates exisiting Power BI reports based on changing business needs
Data Management
- Connects to multiple data sources including SQL databases, Excel, API’s and cloud services
- Performs data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) using Power Query
- Ensures data quality, accuracy and consistency across reports
- Documents data sources, transformations and business logic
- Creates and maintains data dictionaries and documentation
- Collaborates with data engineers and IT teams on data infrastructure
Platform Evolution & Innovation
- Participates in the organisation’s transition to modern analytics platforms
- Stays current with Microsfot data and analytics technologies
- Explores new features and capabilities to improve reporting and analysis
- Contributes to best practices and standards for analytic solutions
- Supports the adoption of unified analytic platforms when applicable
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Works closely with business units to understand reporting requirements and analytical needs
- Presents findings and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Trains end users on how to use Power BI reports and self-service analytics
- Gathers feedback and iterates on dashboard findings
- Participates in project planning and requirement gathering sessions
- Support ad-hoc data requests and business intelligence initiatives
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics or related field
- 3+ years of experience in data analysis or business intelligence
- 2+ years of hands-on experience developing Power BI dashboards and reports
- Strong proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service and DAX
- Experience with Power Query (M language) for data transformation
- Solid understanding of data modelling principles and star schema design
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
- Strong communication skills with ability to present insights to stakeholders
- Experience working with large datasets and optimising query performance
