Barn Conversions - Cripps Barn
Cripps & Co began nearly 25 years ago when we decided that The Cotswolds needed somewhere where you could have a relaxed drink and delicious food that had been cooked in an unfussy way. A place that you could personalise as you wished and somewhere that you could have a live band. When converting an old barn into a party venue, the only brief given to the builder was; “somewhere you could dance on the tables”. Hence our first venue, Cripps Barn was born. What we hadn’t reckoned was it becoming the rave centre of Gloucestershire for a couple years. And then finally it transformed itself into a wedding venue...
Here are photocopies of two of the flyers we had made to advertise one of our raves in 1991 - They were sized so they would fit exactly into the glass panes of our local telephone boxes!
Then came our first wedding later that summer…
Before we built our bigger kitchen, we cooked the lamb on the Asado at the end of the gardens!
Until 2011, guests sat down to eat in our external marquee…
More than eighteen years later, Cripps Barn is looking very different...
In 2011, the marquee was upgraded to The Oak Room
We’re not missing our raves all that much..!
In 2010, we created our outside ceremony glade
Something so wonderful about the terrace in the snow.
Putting our old Asado space to better use
…and we’re still dancing on the tables!
With our rave-barn-turned-wedding-venue doing so well, we thought to expand. Our next venture was Stone Barn…
Keep an eye out for the next Barn conversion blog; there are plenty more to come!
